Ms. Beckman received her Bachelor of Science degree at the University of North Texas in 1994 and her Juris Doctorate from Texas Wesleyan University School of Law in 2000. She was admitted to the Texas Bar in 2001 and the South Carolina Bar in 2007. She is also admitted to practice in the United States District Court, Northern District of Texas and the United States Circuit Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Ms. Beckman was a judicial intern for Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, when he was a Justice of the Texas Supreme Court. Prior to joining the Firm, Ms. Beckman practiced labor and employment law with a mid-size firm in Texas, representing clients in both public and private sectors. Her practice emphasized all aspects of labor and employment law, including assisting clients in employment discrimination matters, wrongful discharge claims, sexual harassment investigations, privacy violations, workplace torts, and wage and hour issues. She also has experience counseling clients on hiring practices, disciplining and terminating employees and personnel policies and procedures. Ms. Beckman has litigated complex constitutional law claims and has represented clients before various administrative agencies. Ms. Beckman practices in the Charleston office in the Firm's litigation division, with an emphasis on employment law, immigration law, and general litigation. She is a member of the American Immigration and Lawyers Association, the State Bar of Texas, South Carolina Bar, American Bar Association, Charleston County Bar Association, and South Carolina Women Lawyers Association.
